Principal – Health Economics & HTA

London / UK Remote | £120,000–£130,000 + Car Allowance + 25% Bonus

Are you an experienced Health Economics and HTA professional looking for an opportunity to combine technical leadership, client engagement and business development?

We’re partnering with a leading global life sciences consultancy that is looking to appoint a Principal to lead and grow its UK Health Economics and HTA practice. This is an opportunity to take ownership of a specialist offering, work with established pharmaceutical client relationships and help shape the future direction of the business.

The role is particularly suited to someone who enjoys using their technical expertise to solve complex client challenges, develop new opportunities and provide strategic direction, rather than focusing solely on project delivery.

If you’re looking for a position that offers genuine ownership, commercial influence and the opportunity to work across a broad range of evidence and market access challenges, we’d love to hear from you.

Company Summary

Our client is a leading global provider of consulting, research and technology-enabled solutions to the life sciences and healthcare industries.

Working across commercial strategy, market access, health economics, HTA, real-world evidence and evidence generation, they support pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies throughout the product lifecycle.

Their integrated capabilities provide the opportunity to bring together expertise from across different disciplines, helping clients address complex strategic, clinical and commercial challenges through tailored solutions.

Following a wider organisational restructure, the business is continuing to develop its UK advisory capabilities and is looking for an experienced Principal to play a key role in growing its Health Economics and HTA offering.

Role Summary

As Principal, you’ll take ownership of the UK Health Economics and HTA practice, combining technical leadership with business development, client relationship management and offering development.

You’ll work closely with pharmaceutical clients to understand their UK market access and evidence needs, identify opportunities and develop tailored solutions. This will include leading proposals, shaping new engagements and overseeing projects such as NICE and SMC submissions, economic model development and adaptation, early HTA strategy and evidence-generation planning.

You’ll also work alongside established client business partners and other practice leads to develop integrated solutions across Health Economics, RWE, evidence synthesis and wider commercial advisory services.

The role carries responsibility for revenue growth, project quality and profitability, while providing technical direction and coaching to delivery teams. There is deliberately no formal line management responsibility, allowing you to focus more heavily on developing the business, shaping the offering and providing specialist leadership.

This is a broad, high-visibility position offering the opportunity to influence both the strategic direction and commercial success of the UK HE/HTA practice.

Key Requirements

  • Extensive experience in Health Economics and UK HTA, ideally with approximately 10+ years of relevant experience.
  • Deep technical knowledge of economic modelling and its application to NICE and SMC submissions.
  • Experience leading clients through UK HTA processes and developing evidence strategies to support pricing, reimbursement and market access.
  • A strong understanding of the UK pharmaceutical and market access environment.
  • Proven ability to build trusted client relationships, understand client challenges and develop tailored consulting solutions.
  • Experience contributing to business development, proposals, client growth or revenue generation.
  • The ability to provide strategic and technical leadership across complex HE/HTA projects, ensuring high standards of quality, delivery and profitability.
  • Experience coaching, mentoring or providing technical guidance to colleagues.

Experience within a consultancy would be advantageous, although candidates from pharmaceutical, industry or other relevant backgrounds will also be considered where they can demonstrate the required technical credibility and commercial approach. An established UK pharmaceutical or HTA network would be beneficial.

What's in it for you?

  • The opportunity to take ownership of a significant UK Health Economics and HTA practice within a leading global life sciences organisation.
  • A broad role combining technical leadership, client engagement, business development and strategic influence.
  • The chance to shape and develop the HE/HTA offering, including new services, thought leadership and external positioning.
  • Access to established pharmaceutical client relationships and dedicated client business partners to support opportunity development.
  • The opportunity to work alongside experts across RWE, evidence generation, commercial strategy and other advisory disciplines.
  • A varied portfolio of projects, including NICE and SMC submissions, economic modelling, early HTA and wider evidence strategy.
  • The ability to provide technical leadership and develop colleagues without formal line management responsibilities.
  • A flexible working environment, with the opportunity to work remotely for a significant proportion of the time and travel for client and team meetings as required.
  • A competitive package including £120,000–£130,000 base salary, car allowance and a 25% annual bonus.
  • The opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to the growth and future direction of a specialist practice within a well-established global business.
