If you’re an experienced Senior Account Manager looking to step up to Account Director level or an existing AD who enjoys leading a busy team, building strong client partnerships and keeping complex programmes on track, this could be a great next move.

We’re partnering with an independent healthcare communications agency looking for a commercially minded Account Director to take ownership of one of its most important client accounts. You’ll work across programmes supporting pharmaceutical commercial, medical affairs and IT deployment teams, bringing together scientific understanding and a practical approach to delivery.

This is a hands-on project delivery and team leadership opportunity where you’ll help develop your team, shape account growth and make a visible contribution to the wider business.

Everything you need to know about the role

Reporting to the Operations Director, you’ll be the senior delivery lead and client contact for a key healthcare account, with direct responsibility for Account Managers and Account Executives.

You’ll:

  • Oversee a broad portfolio of medical communications projects, keeping quality, timelines and client satisfaction at the heart of delivery.
  • Build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders across marketing, medical, digital and IT teams, understanding their priorities and offering proactive recommendations.
  • Identify opportunities to grow the account and develop proposals, scopes and quotations that support commercial targets.
  • Coach and develop your team, plan resources and step in to support delivery when workloads are high.
  • Work closely with medical writers, project managers, creative, studio and operational colleagues to turn client objectives into effective programmes.
  • Anticipate delivery risks, manage changes in scope and ensure work meets pharmaceutical industry regulations and client requirements.
  • Contribute to new business pitches and help agency leaders identify opportunities for future growth.

Experience across multiple therapy areas, international or global accounts, and an understanding of commercial teams, medical affairs and omnichannel scientific engagement would be an advantage.

Experience and qualities that make you a strong fit

You’ll bring substantial agency experience and the confidence to lead complex programmes, senior client relationships and a busy delivery team.

We’re looking for:

  • A bachelor’s degree in life sciences, alongside significant experience in a medical communications, healthcare communications or medical education agency.
  • A strong track record of overseeing complex medical communications programmes and managing and growing pharmaceutical client relationships.
  • Extensive experience with Veeva PromoMats, including confident hands-on use.
  • Excellent project management and organisational skills, with the ability to balance competing priorities and maintain high standards.
  • Proven experience leading, mentoring and developing teams, with a collaborative approach and a willingness to roll up your sleeves.
  • Strong presentation and stakeholder management skills, commercial awareness and a sound understanding of pharmaceutical industry structures.

What’s on offer?

  • Competitive salary dependent on experience.
  • Hybrid working: Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday in the Tunbridge Wells office, with the option to work from home on Thursday and Friday.
  • Ownership of a major healthcare client account, with scope to influence delivery and develop the partnership.
  • A senior leadership role combining client responsibility, team development and contribution to agency growth.
  • Varied programmes and close collaboration with colleagues across scientific, creative and operational disciplines.

Could this be the role for you?

If you enjoy bringing out the best in a team and delivering work that keeps clients coming back, I’d love to tell you more.
