European Commercial Expansion | Genmab | 17 roles & 5 countries
Carrot and our INRALS partners in Germany, France, Italy & Spain were approached by Genmab as part of their strategic plans for EU commercial expansion, they were seeking pharma-specialist recruitment agencies across key European markets.
Requirements of the Hire
As part of an ambitious accelerated growth strategy, Genmab sought to expand its presence across key European markets. While the company’s operations were predominantly U.S.-based, the need to establish and scale teams locally in Europe created a unique challenge.
To ensure successful market entry and rapid hiring, Genmab required recruitment partners with deep regional expertise – agencies that not only understood the nuances of local hiring practices but also had established candidate networks and on-the-ground presence in each target country.
Our Approach
Carrot and our INRALS recruitment partners worked together to offer Genmab a strategy and approach across Europe, so they could work collaboratively with independent, native agencies in each market but as a unified team. We offered extensive life science experience and deep expertise in the pharmaceutical industry, while also offering Genmab a streamlined partnership model with a single, consistent set of terms applied across all countries.
The Outcome
From early 2025, each INRALS partner agency was actively engaged in their respective markets in accordance with Genmab’s strategic timeline, working collaboratively to deliver on Genmab’s hiring objectives. Regular cross-country briefings and continuous information sharing between the agencies and Genmab were instrumental in maintaining momentum and meeting key project milestones.
In Germany, the initial phase of the project delivered strong early results, with six Key Account Manager (KAM) roles successfully filled, creating a solid commercial foundation. Building on this momentum, recruitment efforts then focused on securing two Medical Science Liaison (MSL) positions to further strengthen medical engagement.
In the UK, Carrot Recruitment played a pivotal role in identifying and securing high-calibre talent for a number of business-critical positions. Through a targeted and consultative search approach, Carrot sourced exceptional candidates who were subsequently appointed across several high-priority roles, including a General Manager, two Medical Science Liaisons, and two Key Account Managers.
This success enabled Genmab to confidently expand its footprint into France, Spain, and Italy. The establishment of these markets was underpinned by key senior appointments, including two General Managers and a Chief People Officer, ensuring strong leadership and governance from the outset.
The coordinated, multi-market approach enabled by INRALS proved highly effective in delivering both speed and quality, offering Genmab a seamless recruitment experience across multiple countries concurrently.
