Abbi Taylor & Lara Monteiro
Proveca â Key Account Manager, East of England
Role overview
This is a permanent, field-based Key Account Manager position covering the East of England. The role has been vacant since 26 August and is an urgent hire.
The KAM will be responsible for developing hospital accounts, building relationships with clinical and commercial stakeholders, gaining product access and driving sales across Provecaâs existing portfolio and planned launches.
Proveca is a smaller pharmaceutical business specialising in licensed, age-appropriate medicines for children. The portfolio currently includes:
A core neurology product.
A cardiology product launched approximately two and a half years ago.
Up to three potential launches during the current financial year:
A further cardiology mini-tablet.
A neurology tablet.
A paediatric acute-pain product.
The position therefore offers a combination of established product selling, account development and potential launch experience.
Territory
The patch covers:
Most of London.
Essex.
Areas extending eastwards into the East of England.
Kent and southwest London form part of the South territory and are not included.
Candidates can live anywhere within the East patch, provided they can manage the geography effectively. The exact boundaries will be confirmed through Laraâs territory map.
Key accounts include:
Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Evelina London Childrenâs Hospital.
Addenbrookeâs Hospital.
Existing relationships or previous experience within Great Ormond Street would be a particularly strong advantage.
Salary and package
Target salary: approximately £50,000.
Potential flexibility: up to around £55,000 for an exceptional candidate.
Car allowance: £730 per month.
Pension: approximately 10% employer contribution.
Health insurance.
Annual bonus: up to £12,000.
The bonus is structured as:
70% based on sales.
30% based on KPIs.
Payments begin once 90% of target is achieved.
Overachievement is banked and paid at year-end, capped at 120% of target.
What is most important to Lara?
The strongest message from Lara is that she needs a proven salesperson who can operate effectively within hospital accounts.
The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate:
Clear evidence of sales performance and achievements.
Experience selling into hospitals rather than being predominantly primary-care focused.
Strong relationships with hospital stakeholders, particularly pharmacists, medicines optimisation pharmacists and other decision-makers.
Experience navigating formulary processes or securing product access.
The autonomy and organisation needed to manage a large territory.
A collaborative approach and willingness to contribute to the wider team, rather than focusing solely on individual sales numbers.
Comfort working within a small-to-medium-sized pharmaceutical company where people may need to be adaptable and take broader responsibility.
A clinical background would be attractive, as would paediatric, specialist-product or product-launch experience. However, these are not absolute requirements. Lara appears willing to consider candidates from medical devices or other relevant sales backgrounds if they can show strong performance, hospital credibility, independence and the ability to complete the ABPI qualification.
Candidate hierarchy
Most important:
Proven sales success.
Hospital sales and stakeholder experience.
Formulary or medicines-access experience.
Autonomy, organisation and territory-management ability.
Collaborative fit with a smaller business.
Strong advantages:
Great Ormond Street relationships.
Paediatric experience.
Specialist pharmaceutical products.
Clinical background.
New product launch experience.
Existing ABPI qualification.
The previous territory holder was highly experienced, commercially successful and described as a strong storyteller. Lara therefore needs someone who can communicate the clinical and commercial value of the products convincingly, maintain a high performance standard and bring some stability to the team.
