This Scientific Editorial Specialist is ideal for someone with a PhD and a couple of years of experience as a medical editor in scientific publishing or journals, or a medical communications agency.

This is remote role open to people living within around an hour of Manchester, UK.

Everything you need to know about the role 

As Scientific Editorial Specialist for this medical society, you will use your PhD in BioSciences and your experience in scientific journals, publishing or medical communications to provide editorial support for all manuscripts and algorithms:

  • Manage journal submissions, resubmissions and online publications, editing content for accuracy, clarity, consistency and readability
  • Verify key clinical trial data and that it is referenced and interpreted correctly
  • Confirm the clinical content of recommendations is clear, and align recommendations with treatment algorithms and vice versa.
  • Review and format PowerPoint slides so they adhere to SOPs and templates
  • Build and manage reference libraries in EndNote
  • Request and track author input and approvals

Experience and qualities that make you a strong fit

  • 2 yrs of experience in a similar role involving clinical, scientific or medical manuscript editing
  • PhD in Biosciences
  • An understanding of clinical trial data
  • Comfortable with using PowerPoint slide sets for clinical use and professional presentations
  • Working in the field of oncology is desirable
  • Experience with the EndNote reference library management system and the Asana project management tool would be an advantage
