Carrot Recruitment successfully supported P\S\L Group Canada in securing a critical hire to help establish their new division
Through a strategic and personalised approach, Carrot Recruitment successfully supported P\S\L Group Canada in securing a critical hire to help establish their new division — demonstrating our commitment to quality, partnership, and speed in every project we deliver.
Carrot Recruitment has partnered with P\S\L Group across the UK and Europe for many years. When the organisation’s Canadian team began to expand, we were referred internally by their Talent Acquisition Director to support the growth.
Although another agency was also involved, we made it our top priority to ensure efficient and successful delivery.
Requirements of the Hire
P/S/L Group Canada was establishing a new division and required professionals with very specific skill sets to join their growing team.
Their existing recruitment partner had provided candidates who didn’t quite meet expectations, and the role was becoming increasingly critical to the team’s success.
To ensure a deep understanding of the brief, we conducted a detailed discovery call with the Hiring Manager and Talent Acquisition team, exploring:
- The team’s purpose and goals
- The exact skills and experience required
- Current capability gaps and challenges in previous candidates
- Long-term plans and ideal cultural fit
Our Approach
With a clear understanding of the role and requirements, Louise created a targeted search strategy by mapping relevant job titles, skills, experience, and locations.
Recognising the niche nature of the role, she opted not to advertise, instead conducting proactive, tailored headhunting to directly reach the right talent pool. This ensured time was focused on candidates who met all key criteria, rather than managing unsuitable applications.
The Outcome
Carrot’s targeted headhunting approach delivered strong results within a short timeframe. Six qualified candidates were presented, leading to three first-stage interviews and one final interview resulting in an offer and acceptance. The first candidate was submitted on 29th September, with the offer accepted by 14th October—a swift and efficient process by all parties involved.
The P\S\L Group hiring team initially anticipated a longer and more challenging search to identify an individual meeting all role requirements. They were therefore highly satisfied with both the speed of delivery and the quality of the outcome. The appointed candidate expressed equal satisfaction, citing the opportunity to develop their skills within a dedicated and supportive environment. They remain in post and continue to make a positive contribution to the business.
A Partnership Approach
At Carrot, 65% of our assignments throughout 2024 were worked in genuine partnership, where we were the sole supplier entrusted with that particular hiring project. There are some really significant benefits to this method of working that should never be overlooked. Our clients who employ this method rarely convert back to using a multi-agency approach for specific remits. Our success rate is 100% when working in partnership.
