About the opportunity
In this pivotal role, you’ll lead the commercial direction for a dynamic and expanding portfolio, driving product launches and shaping market strategies. You’ll oversee the full commercial vertical, ensuring seamless collaboration between Sales, Supply Chain, Regulatory, and Business Development to deliver on ambitious growth plans.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading a team of Senior Commercial Account Managers (field based sales), guiding strategic planning and delivery for the UK branded generics portfolio.
- Managing NHS hospital tenders, pricing strategies, and commercial negotiations.
- Conducting portfolio reviews to pinpoint growth opportunities and maximise product lifecycle value.
- Using market data, sales analysis, and competitor insights to refine product strategies, support tenders, and identify promotional openings.
- Proactively assessing risks and opportunities to support forecasting and performance goals.
- Coordinating with Supply Chain and Procurement to maintain accurate ordering, stock alignment, and supply continuity.
- Overseeing launch planning and lifecycle transitions for products nearing loss of exclusivity.
- Supporting the assessment and integration of Business Development & Licensing (BD&L) initiatives.
- Ensuring all commercial activities meet ABPI and MHRA compliance standards.
- Managing budgets, tracking performance, and communicating variances effectively.
What you’ll bring
- Demonstrated leadership experience in UK pharmaceutical sales, with deep commercial knowledge from currently or relatively recently working in the branded generics space.
- A record of driving growth through strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and effective leadership.
- Strong background in portfolio management, NHS tendering, and commercial contracting.
- Analytical capability, including financial modelling, to guide strategic decisions.
- In-depth understanding of the UK pharmaceutical market, NHS operations, and key stakeholder networks.
- Collaborative approach across functions such as Supply Chain, Medical, and Regulatory.
- Solid project management skills with a focus on timelines, compliance, and delivery.
- Exceptional communication and influencing abilities.
