Are you an established Account Director looking for a role where you can truly influence client strategy, drive account growth and operate as a senior leader within a global healthcare communications agency?
This is an opportunity to join a well-established, boutique communications agency specialising in strategic communications, engagement, events and learning solutions for healthcare and life sciences organisations.
With a strong international footprint across Europe, the UK, North America and APAC, the agency partners with global pharma clients to deliver impactful programmes that go beyond traditional communications - helping organisations engage audiences, enhance learning and create meaningful change.
As Account Director, you’ll take ownership of key client accounts, leading strategic direction, strengthening senior relationships and driving commercial growth, while overseeing the delivery of high-quality, multi-channel programmes.

As Account Director, you’ll operate as the senior lead across your accounts and within the region - responsible not only for delivery but for shaping client partnerships and identifying opportunities to grow and evolve the work.
You’ll build a deep understanding of healthcare communications, acting as a trusted advisor and ensuring all activity aligns with their broader objectives. Alongside this, you’ll play a key role in driving new and organic business, leading proposals and contributing to the ongoing growth of the agency.
Internally, you’ll lead cross-functional teams across strategy, creative, production and client services, ensuring projects are delivered seamlessly, to a high standard and with strong commercial oversight.
This role sits at the intersection of client leadership, strategic thinking and commercial accountability, offering real influence both on accounts and within the wider business.
Key responsibilities include:
- Acting as the senior point of contact across key accounts, building strong, trusted client relationships
- Developing a deep understanding of client business challenges and translating these into strategic communications approaches
- Leading strategic direction across accounts, ensuring all work aligns with client objectives
- Driving account growth through identifying opportunities and leading RFPs and proposals
- Overseeing the delivery of complex programmes across communications, meetings, events, thought leadership and educational initiatives
- Leading and motivating cross-functional teams, maintaining strong collaboration across disciplines – Including mentoring and developing junior team members and supporting overall team performance
- Managing account financials, including forecasting, budgeting and revenue targets – You’ll ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards
Experience and qualities that make you a strong fit:
You’ll be an experienced Account Director (or operating at that level) within a healthcare, life sciences or specialist communications agency, with a proven ability to lead client relationships and drive account growth.
You’ll combine strong strategic thinking with commercial awareness, and be confident operating in a fast-paced, global environment where you’re expected to take ownership and lead from the front.
You’ll be equally comfortable engaging senior stakeholders, shaping strategy and ensuring operational excellence across delivery.
You’ll bring:
- Significant experience leading client accounts within a communications, marketing or events agency – ideally in the life sciences or healthcare sector or similar
- A strong track record of building and growing senior client relationships
- Proven experience driving business development, including leading proposals and RFP responses
- Strong strategic thinking, with the ability to connect communications activity to wider business goals
- Excellent commercial acumen, including experience managing budgets, forecasting and revenue growth
- Experience overseeing complex, multi-workstream projects
- Strong leadership skills, with experience mentoring and developing team members
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with confidence engaging senior stakeholders
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with the ability to navigate challenges effectively
