Senior Engineering Manager | Viant Medical | France

Carrot Recruitment’s strategic approach and commitment to understanding the client’s needs were instrumental in overcoming the challenges faced by Viant Medical.

Requirements of the Hire

Viant Medical were looking to fill a Senior Engineering Manager vacancy that was both a crucial and confidential hire. The company had partnered with local recruitment agency in France for around a year without success. The location presented various obstacles, as the local talent pool was small, and candidates often lacked the necessary industry experience or language skills.

The leadership role was essential for the plant’s operations, requiring a candidate with proven experience in the medtech industry, as well as a bilingual proficiency in French and English. The specificity of the role made it challenging to find suitable candidates.

The location of the facility limited the talent pool, with local candidates predominantly from the automotive and other industries. Additionally, the area was not seen as desirable for relocation.

Despite efforts by another agency that introduced 6-7 candidates to the process, the position remained vacant. The need for confidentiality further complicated the advertising of the role.

Our Approach

Carrot Recruitment employed a comprehensive, three-pronged approach to address Viant Medical’s hiring dilemma, leveraging industry expertise, strategic outreach, and personalized engagement.

  1. In-depth Understanding and Strategic Search: We began with an extensive brief on the role, understanding the client’s expectations and the challenges faced. Utilising LinkedIn Recruiter and our professional network, we conducted a nationwide search to broaden the talent pool beyond local constraints. Our market knowledge and ability to identify candidates with the desired medtech experience were critical.

  1. Targeted Outreach and Engagement:
Given the confidential nature of the role, we carefully advertised the position, ensuring anonymity. We reached out to select candidates directly to ensure engagement. Understanding that candidates working on-site often have demanding schedules, we remained flexible and persistent in our outreach.

  1. Collaborative Process and Transparent Communication:
Throughout the recruitment process, Carrot Recruitment maintained close collaboration with Viant Medical and the candidates. Our transparent communication and honest advice helped build trust and ensured that both parties were aligned. This approach facilitated a smooth and efficient recruitment process.

The Outcome

Carrot Recruitment’s methodical approach led to a successful placement within just 11 weeks, even accounting for a three-week plant closure. This was a stark contrast to the year-long struggle prior to our involvement.

Within two weeks, we shortlisted four candidates, and Viant Medical chose to interview the two strongest contenders. Despite the plant closure, we kept candidates engaged, leading to a successful interview with the eventual hire on August 28th. An offer was extended by September 25th, and the candidate accepted by October 3rd, with a start date set for January 6th, 2025.

Our ability to fill such a critical role swiftly and efficiently demonstrates the value we bring to our clients.
