Summary
Carrot Recruitment is exclusively supporting the recruitment of the first Key Account Manager for the UK on behalf of a global biopharmaceutical company. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a huge impact, at the forefront of oncology research and innovation, with an exciting portfolio and pipeline.

About the role
As the first Key Account Manager for the UK, you will play a pivotal role in establishing this global biopharmaceutical company in the UK, with accountability for building and maintaining strong relationships with key NHS and private sector stakeholders, including hospitals, specialist cancer centres, private practices, academic medical institutions, and oncology professionals across the UK. You will be responsible for promoting the oncology portfolio, with a focus on solid tumours and gynaecological oncology, to healthcare professionals and key decision-makers.

Key responsibilities:

  • Create and execute a territory business plan designed to deliver and exceed commercial targets, effectively positioning the oncology portfolio for patient benefit.
  • Build long-term, value-driven relationships to support brand visibility and encourage uptake of therapies.
  • Use market insights and competitor knowledge to shape commercial approaches and adapt strategies as needed.
  • Share expertise, contribute to cross-functional projects, and collaborate with internal colleagues to ensure consistent and tailored messaging to the UK market.
  • Represent the company and its brands with credibility and patient focus, achieving ambitious business objectives.
  • Allocate budget and resources efficiently while complying with company guidelines.
  • Use a blend of virtual and face-to-face engagement to maximise stakeholder access and impact.
  • Drive territory excellence through strategic planning, optimal use of tools, and effective execution of initiatives.

What we’re looking for

  • At least 5 years’ experience in pharmaceutical sales, including 3+ years in oncology. Knowledge of gynaecological oncology or ADCs would be highly advantageous, although not essential.
  • Background in both large pharma and smaller biotech businesses would be ideal, with strong understanding of the UK oncology landscape.
  • Demonstrable track record of consistently exceeding sales targets in complex therapy areas.
  • Ability to develop strong partnerships with KOLs, MDTs, and major oncology accounts.
  • Sound understanding of NHS structures, reimbursement processes, and oncology funding pathways.
  • Highly organised, detail-focused, and able to balance multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.
  • Willingness to travel across the UK (with territories likely split North and South, when a 2nd KAM is brought onboard).
  • Proven success in launching new oncology products in the UK.
  • Familiarity with both NHS and private sector reimbursement systems.

What’s on offer

  • Attractive base salary plus a rewarding share scheme.
  • Full benefits package, including health cover, retirement plans, and performance-related bonuses.
  • Genuine career development opportunities within a fast-expanding biopharma business.
  • The unique opportunity to be part of a brand-new UK launch team, shaping the company’s presence and impact in oncology from day one.

Unless otherwise stated, if applying for a job within the UK or European Union, you must ensure that you are already authorised to work there.
